Hidden Gem Near Denver, CO

You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

It was not until she visited Morocco, when she realized that …

Traveling for eight months is awesome! The only thing I missed was not seeing my sons for such a long time. But we were lucky: Timo and his girlfriend Dana had been picking us up at the port in San Pedro (LA) when we returned. And Nico? Of course I wanted to see him as soon as possible, so I booked a flight to Denver to spend a long weekend with him, meet his friends, cook, talk, eat, laugh, puzzle, watch TV, play billiard, etc. we had a nice, quiet, relaxing time, we went to dinner with Joanne and Dale, we had a game night with Amy, Paxton, Mel and Kyle, we had Alix and her 2 month old daughter Harper come visit and – drumroll – Nico gave me a tour of his work!

And then we toured Nico’s work: Ron Jones Garage

And what a treasure this is! Hot Rods, Custom Builds, Restorations, Collision & Automotive Repair, anything your car lovers heart needs, they’ll make you happy.

Ron Jones Garage is located in Winsor, CO, an hours drive north of Denver. It’s a hidden gem in an industrial area, but as soon as you step in, it’s car fanatics heaven! The most recent award winning truck, custom built with the finest materials and best workmanship (photo above), next to 1967 mustangs, 1963 corvettes, lifted trucks and hot rods, VW Kübelwagen, etc.

Working on those cars is tricky, not only because it’s challenging to find the appropriate parts (that you scout for example in Tucson, AZ, have it shipped to Winsor, CO, and find a lizard wrapped inside the sheets that cover your junkyard treasure. That lizard, named Tucson now, has its own terrarium in Ron Jones showroom. He gets crickets, fed in tiny portions, because a big feast makes Tucson panic and he’ll just scarify his tail and runs off to survive the cricket invasion). It is challenging because you want to hang on to all the bits and pieces you already have, not loosing a single screw of the original parts
