Downton Abbey

Just before we headed out on our adventure, Ted and I watched the newly released Downton Abbey movie at the theatre in Paso Robles. Lots of memories came up with Mrs. Padmore and Daisy, with Mr Carson and Lady Mary. Of course Lady Edith (my favorite) was featured and her brother in law Tom.

Fast forward:

So here we are on board of the Queen Mary 2, and what do we do all day long? We play Downton Abbey! And not only Ted and I, a whole shipload full of people have afternoon tea at 3.30pm every day, we eat cucumber sandwiches and scones with marmalade, salmon sandwiches and passion fruit tarts, etc. And as soon as you’re halfway through your cup of delicious tea, one of the many waiters appears out of nowhere and fills it up again. So every afternoon at 3.30 pm we show up at the Queen’s Room and drink 3, 4, one time even 5 cups of good English black tea and we eat at least the same number of goodies, each of them served from silver trays and put on our little afternoon tea plates with the special afternoon tea silverware and the smaller special afternoon tea napkins, which are white as can be, starched of course and perfectly pressed. Mr. Carson would be pleased to see the waiters be so attentive and friendly. Mrs Padmore does a great job in the kitchen, Daisy too! And slowly but steadily I transition into Lady Edith and I’m quite happy! I feel so special, so spoiled and – hell yes – I love Downton Abbey! If we continue our voyage on the QM2 I have to rewatch all the episodes again as soon as we’ll be back, because I’m going to miss Ludmilla, Samuel, Eric and Ting and many more who make this voyage so special!

Of course the Queen has to be on the Queen Mary 2!

I can’t say enough about the delicious food on board of the Queen Mary 2! Everything was always to perfection!!!
