NYC: Grand Central Terminal

OMG, we took a tour of the Grand Central Terminal today and these are the things we were most fascinated / impressed with:

1. It was built by railroad titan Cornelius Vanderbuilt (Ted)

2. Jacky Kennedy Onassis saved the building from the wrecking ball (Ted)

3. There is a tennis court on the sixth floor (Ted)

4. 750,000 passengers use the station every year (Edith)

5. The eccentric Campbell lived and worked in the station. His private area is now a bar (Edith)

6. When Vanderbuilt died, he had more money in the bank than the US government (Edith)

The ceiling with the constellation was accidentally painted mirror image 😵‍💫
Don’t say „Grand Central Station“! It’s a terminal, a terminal! 🤪
Since remodeling 10 of the 12 eagles are missing… 😖

It’s blue – of course!

Before we head out for new adventures today, I’ll have a few words / photos about our hotel room here in NYC at the EVAN HOTEL 221 E 44th St. It is a good size room = it is huge for a NYC hotel room. I used to come here twice a year to exhibit at the big wholesale shows at the Javitz convention center. The rooms I used to book were always just slightly bigger than the bed; and now this:

Mini gym !!!
… and the best: the ceiling is blue! Bright blue! That’s the only color in the room beside cork-beige, wall-beige, furniture-brown and bed-beige.

And another detail I wanted to show today: our fool proof, not-to-be-lost subway map! It moves along quite nicely, it looks pretty and: it talks 🥳
