Let the hiccups begin!

Our perfect plan just got a dent. Big dent! Our shuttle at 7am should have brought us to the San Luis Obispo Airport, from where we would fly to LAX. There we planned our 3.5 hour layover with breakfast, walking, reading and all those time-killing distractions you do at a major airport. From there we planned to fly to Frankfurt, Germany and from Frankfurt we had planned to fly to Munich.

But:

Our flight from SLO to LAX was just cancelled, “due to sever weather conditions”. Hmmmmm. We are wondering which weather conditions they are talking about, but here in Paso Robles and in LA it is beautiful weather, no rain in the forecast, a little wind. Nothing else.

So while Ted cancels the shuttle that should have brought us to SLO I’m on the enterprise car rental website to reserve a car first thing in the morning. Driving to LA takes 4 hours under mint conditions and we know that there is no “mint” in LA….. But we’ll try and that’s all we can do.

Keep your fingers crossed!

So we’re all settled now, ready to drive to LAX tomorrow morning!

9 min later: text message from United Airlines: We’ve rebooked you on a new flight. Your new flight from SLO goes to San Francisco now and from there to Munich! So we rebooked the shuttle bus and cancelled the rental car. Hahaha! As they say:

Anticipation

in less than 18 hours, a shuttle from the San Luis Obispo Airport will pick us up. The suitcases are almost packed, the garden is almost prepped, the fridge is almost empty and the garbage is still full. A few more things on the to-do list need to be checked off, but it all seems easy-cheesy. We are experienced travelers, we don’t panic. As long as you have your passport, a credit card and your meds, you’re good!

Our suitcases are packed with gifts for our newest addition to the family – Niklas, who was born August 20th, a healthy 6 pounder baby, who we are eager to see!

Our journey will be a what seems to be super short weekend getaway, but indeed it is a 6-week-European-travel-around with lots of adventures. I’m really looking forward to it, and so is Ted! Please join us!
