Opening hours

Since we arrived in Germany on a Saturday, we were talking about going to the grocery store to buy some stuff soon. For me, born and raised there, soon means Monday. For Ted it means the next day, Sunday. But there is no such thing as grocery shopping on a Sunday. Sunday is the day of rest, Sunday is a quiet day, everything is closed, except the church and that’s where you’d better go visit!

So today is Monday and we finally have a chance to go grocery shopping, visit my favorite eyeglass store and go to the bank. Which is closed, because it is 12.30pm. And that means: lunch. Can you imagine that a whole branch is closing 1 hour every day for lunch? Funny, isn’t it? So we kill some time and come back after their lunchbreak. Which is, btw, nowhere to be found with their opening hours.

So you wonder what people do on Sunday (after church)? Party! At least the Schneider family is having parties and they are always nice! Cakes baked from scratch, no baking mix, just plain basic ingredients. Barbecue with salad and bread with herbal butter. Delicious!
