How much can a person eat? Well, today we worked hard to hit that limit, and….. bingo! We did it! We reached the saturation point! I think never ever in my life I ate so much food in a single day than today. And we were done by 5pm!!!

Our culinary tour guides Chiara, Sonia and Amedeo are so much fun and they are so knowledgeable when it comes to the history of Naples, what influences caused certain foods to find its way to Napoli and how it made their way into being „a typical Neapolitan food staple“. Baba au rum, invented in Poland, adopted by France and imported to Napoli for example. Or tomatoes, an unknown ingredient in the Italiener cuisine 200 years ago! We heard so many interesting and fun stories today, we didn’t realize that we ate and walked and ate and walked and ate some more…..

We walked almost 5 miles today and my knee is killing me, but without walking I would have popped! The food here is so simple, so delicious and those little businesses we visited do what they do for a hundred years or longer! 5, 6 generation restaurants or the freselleria, where they bake those breads for 200 years with the exact same craftsmanship, hand made and rolled by hand in exactly the same way. It’s fascinating!

We stopped by a „factory“ where a guy handprints signs, price signs for market booths. He made a sign for each of us (with the guys ended up cheap and all the women with higher prices)

We had so much fun today and I can hardly wait to continue tomorrow morning. With food of course. Lots of food. Italian food!!!
