Sicily – Arrividerci Taormina – updated version!

It’s time to say good-bye to this wonderful place called Taormina. We enjoyed it a lot and couldn’t get enough of the history, the culture and the style.

Yesterday was our last day here and we were very busy: first we visited an Ancient Greek amphitheater, that was rebuilt by the Romans and is still used as a concert venue today! Lots of stairs (62 to be precise), buts it’s worth it…

We had a fabulous lunch + dessert before visiting Parco Florence Trevelyan, a quiet shady garden with fantastic views

Canolo – a specialty from Sicilia: sweetened ricotta cheese in a paperthin Canolo crust, sprinkled with pistachios ❤️

When you walk in Oldtown Taormina along the Corso Umberto that is 1km between Porto Messina (where our B&B was) and Porto Catania you’ll be surprised how many little side streets there are! Ted and I walked along and took photos of each of them, more than 30 (here is a random selection of 10 of them)!

Last adventure on my agenda: teaching 2 classes on Zoom until 11pm 😴

And last but not least, our good-bye photo from Taormina🥴, from Sicily😖 and from Italy😫

  1. We loved Taormina. We did the walk down to the pretty beach and it was so peaceful. I’m glad you visited Sicily. So many people go to Italy and ignore all the beauty and interesting history in Sicily. I’m amazed you are able to do all the walking required with your knee. Enjoy today’s adventures! Joan
